Terracotta amphora with two handles and a pointed bottom. The amphora is perhaps the best known and most appreciated of all of man’s artifacts, and was used to store oil, honey, and wine drawn off from large fermenting vats. These beautifully shaped pottery jugs were seen in homes, kitchens, marketplaces, warehouses, inns and on board the merchant ships of the Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans.
