Terracotta amphora with two handles and pointed base. The amphora is perhaps the best known and most appreciated of all of ancient man’s artifacts, and was used to store oil, honey, and wine drawn off from large fermenting vats. In ancient years, you would see these beautifully shaped pottery jugs in homes, kitchens, marketplaces, warehouses, inns and on board the merchant ships of the Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans.
