Late Kingdom. 715-332 BC (3 ¼"); Egyptian Faience Ushabti with 5 lines of hieroglyphs on the front and back, holding a flail in each hand, back pillar, tripartite wig, braided chin beard. Often called "Servants of the Afterlife", Ushabtis were placed in the tomb of the mummy and were intended to be servants that would magically come to life and do any chore the mummy might be called upon to perform in the afterlife. 26th Dynasty. 663-525 BC (5")
